Peripheral neuropathy is a condition wherein the peripheral nervous system is damaged. The nerves are responsible for transmitting information to and from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body. This can result to loss of feeling or numbness, pain, and also the inability to control muscles. The most common sources of neuropathy involve injuries, infections, metabolic disorders and exposure to toxins. Diabetes is also one of the causes of neuropathy. Just like any other condition, the treatment for peripheral neuropathy varies depending on the severity and also on the cause. However, despite this, many people who experiences peripheral neuropathy are finding relief from using herbal remedies.

A few weeks ago, we had a patient in her forties ask us for help because she felt it was becoming difficult remembering simple things. She had been a diabetic for about ten years and her previous HbA1c levels were 7 and 8.8 percent (normal values 4-6 percent). She noticed that she often lost things and forgot her appointments. Checking through her records—we immediately sent her to a neurologist for evaluation at our memory clinic in the hospital. Was this dementia? A stroke? Or was our patient just under stress?
