Oriental-Style Pasta

This is a pasta favorite in our family and is very simple to prepare. A cross between Asian and Western flavors, the ingredients all come together in one superb dish. Â You can also use angel hair or spaghetti pasta if you prefer.
Yield: 6 portions
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Olive Oil
- 3 pieces garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
- 500 grams shrimps, peeled and deveined
- 1″ piece ginger, peeled and chopped
- 3 tablespoon cooking wine
- 250 grams Asparagus, trimmed and blanched, cut into 1″ lengths
- 5 pieces dried shiitake mushrooms, blanched in boiling water, sliced
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 250 grams whole-wheat Penne rigate pasta, cooked
- 1/2 cup Pasta water (just in case needed)
- 2 pieces spring onions, trimmed and cut into 1/4″ lengths
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
Procedures:
- Heat oil in wok. Â Add garlic, ginger and shrimps. Â Stir fry about 2 minutes.
- Add cooking wine and cook 1-2 minutes.
- Add asparagus and shiitake. Stir.
- Add oyster sauce to coat ingredients before adding angel hair. Â Mix together to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Add more pasta water if too dry.
- Remove from heat and add spring onions and sesame oil. Mix
- Top with sesame seeds.
