Normal or Cesarean Delivery?

There are a lot of things that needs to be considered when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth. From the nursery’s color coordination to the feeding bottles to be used and even infant formula. But of course, the most crucial decision is how the woman should deliver her infant – vaginal delivery through C-section.

C-section may be recommended for some women, especially those who have health conditions that would not allow them to deliver the baby the natural way. But if you are a healthy woman, the highly recommended way is through vaginal delivery.

It’s the natural way to give birth. Although a planned C-section can somehow make you feel in control because you already know when to expect your baby, remember that vaginal delivery is still the natural way to deliver your infant. Your body is created and designed so that it could endure the normal pains of childbirth. You are being spared from the side-effects if anesthesia, and possible accidental malpractice. Moreover, it also gives you a sense of empowerment in knowing that you contributed in delivering a brand new life in this world.

It’s easier to bond with the baby. Vaginal delivery would allow to stay in the hospital just for a few days, as compared to those who delivered via cesarean section. You also need a shorter period of time for healing and regaining strength. Therefore, it would be easier for you to spend time and bond with your baby. You can be with your infant as soon as possible.

Vaginal delivery makes future pregnancy easier. If you plan to have more kids in the future, then vaginal delivery would allow you easier pregnancies and childbirth in the future. You don’t even have to worry about the possible hemorrhaging of your C-section wound once you get pregnant again (though you may be advised to put at least two years gap between your kids). In future pregnancies, labor may also be shorter and move along quicker.

The joy of being a mother also comes in taking care of your kids. But of course, as you plan on how best to take care of them, you should also put your own health into consideration. How else could you possibly give the best care, right? And as you decide on which kind of delivery would you go under, it is still best to consult your doctor and see what’s best for you from the professional’s point of view.
