Losing Weight Prevents Diabetes

Would-be diabetics need not look further. Researchers at George Washington University in Rockville, Maryland proved weight loss, above exercise and dietary fat reduction is still the surest way to keep type 2 diabetes and its chain of complications at bay.

A report intensifying the link between weight loss and reduction in risk for type 2 diabetes. In line with the Diabetes Prevention Program, overweight delegates who are more likely to develop diabetes participated in a research which aimed to shed seven percent of the participants’weight while encouraging them to engage in exercise.

The research team found that reducing weight by trimming fat and calories can prevent the onset of diabetes by 58 percent in a span of three years. Participants were also asked to spend 2.5 hours worth of exercise per week as well as keep their fat intake to minimum.

Researchers explain that al-though exercise and dietary fat reduction are not as effective as weight loss, these two factors are essential in ensuring a successful battle against the development of diabetes.
