The Kidney Micral Test or Micral Albumin test is a urine test basically used for determining the presence of albumin in the urine. Albumin is a blood protein in the urine which is normally filtered by kidneys. The presence of albumin in the urine is called Albuminuria which can be an indication that the kidneys are not functioning properly. On the other hand, the improper functioning of the kidney can be a result of more serious medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease or even cancer of the kidneys. The Micral testing helps in diagnosing the occurrence of a possible disease as well as for gauging the extent of the damage of a kidney. Apparently, the more Albumin found in the urine means the higher the incompetence of the kidney to filter the blood.

The Micral urine test is usually random and would entail a clean flow of urine sample. In order to obtain the correct sample, it is advised that the patient wash his or her hands to ensure that the sample is clean and not contaminated by anything. While urinating, the collection cup should be held directly in the track of the urine flow. Approximately 2 ounces of urine may be collected without making interruption in the urine stream. In some cases, the patient will be required to collect samples on identified time intervals (e.g. after meals and before meals) over the course of the day. In most cases however, patients are not required to do or prepare anything before the micral test because random samples are used.

The Kidney Micral test is an easy, effective and accurate way for diagnosing kidney problems or detecting diabetes. This is also one diagnostic test that older people should undergo during their regular check ups because the early detection of any kidney problems makes it easier for doctors to effectively treat or address the disease.
