Gallstones or stones for short are lumps of different chemicals (e.g. cholesterol, calcium, bilirubinate, and calcium carbonate, etc.) that solidified or hardened in the gallbladder or bile duct that causes inflammation and pain in the liver or pancreas when the gall used for digestion is blocked. The size of the gallstones can be as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball.

Treatment for gallstones included its surgical removal called Cholecystectomy, dissolution of gallstone using Ursodeoxycholic acid, removal of stone through ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatolography) and Lithotripsy, or the use of ultrasonic shock waves to break gallstones into small pieces to allow it to pass through canals for natural excretion. There is no known medically validated natural cure for gall stones.

Majority of the gallstones that are formed are primarily caused by hardened cholesterol. This means that there is too much cholesterol in the gallbladder. Thus, the best way to deal with it is through prevention by maintaining a healthy lifestyle in which Diet and the choice of food is at its core.

Here are some herbal cures to prevent and flush gallstones from your gallbladder.

Lemon juice with olive oil and garlic. Drinking this juice concoction once a day will help slowly losen the harden chemicals and flush the gallstone.

Blackseed oil concoction – this is not a remedy but prevention. The oil helps in thwarting the solidification of chemicals in the bladder.

Beetroot Juice, Pear Juice, and Apple Juice – the intake of these fibre juices are meant to stifle once craving or appetite thereby reducing intake of cholesterol which causes the gallstone. These juice especially beet juice also helps in cleaning the liver.

Milk thistle – the seed of the milk thistle contains silymarin, which incites the production of bile that in turn help in breaking down the gall stone. Other sources of silymarin included Wild artichokes, Turmeric spices root, coriander seeds and leaves (Chinese Parsley), eclipta weeds, etc.

Dandelion herb tea – this tea helps reduce pain and inflammation caused by gallstone and also helps control the development of gallstones.

Oregon grape – this is another herb which helps improve blood circulation and bile production for curing and preventing gall stones.

Despite these alternative natural remedies, it is highly advised for patients suffering from gallstone pain to consult a physician.
