Gingivitis or the inflammation of the gum tissue marked by redness, swelling and tenderness of the gums, is a periodontal disease that can lead to chronic bad breath, loose or shifting teeth, receding gums, loss of teeth, changes in bite pattern, and hot and cold sensitivity. Its basic cause is poor oral hygiene. As such, the principal way to prevent or cure gingivitis is by regularly brushing. One should also avoid smoking and eat a well balanced to diet to maintain good oral cavity.

Herbal Cure for Gingivitis basically refers to antiseptic plants which are usually used for gargling the mouth. Among the top antiseptic herbals cure for gingivitis included Aloe vera, Cayenne Pepper (sili), Coconut oil, Couch grass, Eucalyptus, Garlic, Holy Basil, Horseradish root, Lemon and Lemongrass, Aloe vera is helpful in soothing inflamed gums. Peppermint can be used to create solution to rinse the mouth. Lemon juice helps to kill bacteria and reduces inflammation. Other herbal cures included cranberry juice, Echinacea extract, propolis tincture, diluted clove oil, diluted eucalyptus oil, or grapefruit seed extract.

In spite of these herbal remedies, it is still best to consult a dentist or a doctor when gingivitis occurs. While gingivitis is generally caused by bad oral hygiene, it could also be a symptom for other diseases including diabetes. Hence, it is important to consult doctor in order for one to diagnose any other related health problem and make the necessary steps to cure said disease more appropriately.
