There are other ways to enjoy the food during the season minus the guilt. Here are some tips for healthy holiday eating:

• When confronted with the desire to eat a holiday treat, don’t hesitate to treat yourself with just a bite. Allowing yourself to sample the food you like can help you not to overeat when the craving is just too much to bear.

• Pick the food that you really want and put just enough on your plate. Then avoid other things on the table that you don’t really want or need.

• As much as possible, try to pick the healthier dishes. Always include veggies in your dinner plate.

• Eat regular meals. Don’t starve yourself before that big Christmas dinner otherwise you’ll surely eat more than you should.

• Monitoring your carbohydrate intake is as important as watching your sugar intake. So go easy on the pasta with that creamy sauce and as much as possible, don’t go near the dessert table.
