Tae Bo is a cardio boxing body fitness system developed by American taekwondo practitioner Billy Blanks in 1976 that integrates Martial Arts and exercise. The term Tae Bo is a combination of tae kwon do and boxing and is an acronym that stands for T for Total commitment to whatever you do, A for Awareness of yourself and the world, E for Excellence, the truest goal in anything you do, B for Body as a force for total change and O for Obedience to your will and your true desire for change.

Because of the advent of the health and figure conscious generation, Tae-Bo immediately gained commercial success to the young especially those who are losing or maintaining their weight. But more than just trimming one’s body, there are other important benefits of Tae bo exercise.

The first obvious benefit of Tae bo is for building and toning the muscles particularly the arms, chest, shoulders, thighs, buns, abs, spinal erectors, and obliques. As a cardiovascular workout, it helps people in improving respiration and blood circulation. Weight Loss is the obvious benefit of Tae bo because the strenuousness of the exercise routine can help burn fats and calories. Finally, as a type of martial arts, Tae Bo also helps in developing self defense skills with its kicking and punching moves. This makes Tae Bo an all in one martial arts, exercise and body toning regimen.

Another important aspect of the Tae Bo as a form of exercise is that it can be performed by anyone at the convenience of their home as long as they have enough space for kicking and punching. It does not entail any equipment, gear or any other gadget to perform. There are different levels for Tae Bo that can cater to people of different ages, genders and physical abilities.
