An angiogram is a diagnostic procedure particularly an X-ray test that utilizes a special dye and camera to take images of blood vessels i.e. artery or vein in the head, arms, legs, chest, back, or belly. More commonly, angiogram is used to look the arteries near the heart which is called coronary angiogram.

The angiogram procedure involves inserting thin tube or catheter into a blood vessel to inject an iodine dye that will show clearly on the X-ray pictures. Through the angiogram, doctors can discover bulges in a blood vessel (also called aneurysm) as well as narrowing or a blockage in a blood vessel. (e.g. coronary artery disease)

An angiogram can also be used to treat diseases through interventional radiology. For instance, a catheter can be used to open blockage in a blood vessel, administer medicine to a tumor, or stop intestinal bleeding.

Angiogram treatment in the Philippines is available in practically all of the leading medical centers in the country like the Heart Center, St. Lukes, UST, Makati Med and UERM among others. The angiogram would usually cost around P30,000 to P75,000 in the Philippines.
