Acupuncture Treatment Safe for Diabetics

Acupuncture Treatment is definitely safe for diabetics but it does not necessarily guarantee treatment particularly of diabetic neuropathy nor is diabetes per se. Acupuncture a Chinese alternative form of medicine which involves stimulating specific acupoints along the skin of the body involving various methods such as the application of heat, pressure, or laser or penetration of thin needles. It is often use to treat and ease pain cause by Peripheral osteoarthritis, Headaches and migraines, Low back, Fibromyalgia, Shoulder and elbow, among others. It is also believed to help treat cancer, fertility, stroke, and attention deficit disorder.

Acupuncture has not proven to be effective for the treatment of Diabetes, per se. However, it somehow helps in easing and relieving diabetic patients from some type of chronic pain and discomfort, as well as the nerve pain/tingling sensation association with diabetes. Some patients claim that acupuncture helped relieve numbness, or neuropathic pain and even erectile dysfunction in some instances. In spite of this, the effectiveness of acupuncture also depends on type of diabetes. Those who are insulin dependent already are most likely not amenable to acupuncture treatment. The situation with Type-2 diabetes, non-insulin dependent diabetes, is not a great deal more positive as our factsheet.

Since diabetics are more susceptible to infections, it is important that the acupuncture facility is sanitary. The needles should be properly labelled, sterile, nontoxic, single-use to ensure prevention of any form of infection.
