Exercises for the Wheelchair Users

Use of the wheelchair should not exempt the user from movement.  The wheelchair, predictably, can restrict the person from moving because of the limited space.  The wheelchair bound should, all the more, be encouraged to move, precisely because of this space restriction.  To optimize the wheelchair borne person’s movement, the wheelchair must be first of all, well fit to its user.  The back height, the seat width, the comfort, size, adequate support and correct positioning are all considerations in wheelchair prescription to attain the best wheelchair for the person. PHA inks tri-sectoral deal with Novartis, Robinsons, VLMP

The Philippine Heart Association (PHA) Healthy Lifestyle (HL) Advocacy Campaign gained additional muscle with the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the PHA, pharmaceutical company Novartis Healthcare Philippines, Robinsons Supermarket and the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP). The MOA signing, held last December 14, 2006 at the PHA Heart House office in Timog Avenue, Quezon City, sealed the partnership between the PHA and the three collaborators which pledged support to the HL campaigns of the PHA. Be it in the form of a pump, vial and syringe, or pen, an insulin device is a must for every diabetic in need of insulin. However, insulin devices aren’t the same in terms of yielding positive results. Based on a recent study, an insulinfilled pen is regarded as the best device in a number of aspects. Researchers found patients with Type 2 diabetes who use insulin pens achieved better adherence to medication and experienced fewer instances of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar compared to conventional vial and syringe delivery. Chocolate Peanut Butter Spread

When the chocolate craving hits you all of a sudden, this easy snack is so simple to prepare everyone can have a bite. Simply pop the ingredients in an oven toaster, oven or turbo broiler. Bite into it and savor this homemade spread.

Yield: 2 to 3 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free peanut butter spread
  • 2 tablespoons sugar-free semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 slices Whole wheat bread

Procedures:

  1. Spread peanut butter on toast.
  2. Top with chocolate chips.
  3. Place in oven toaster to melt chocolate and toast bread.
  4. Remove after about 5 minutes and spread chocolate.
